I’ve been using Nokia 5800 XpressMusic since it launched in the Malaysia market. Being a techie guy, getting a mobile phone that comes in handy on my daily life is essential.
Staying connected and getting updated from my clients, friends and family is an important routine on my daily life. There are times when I needed to send an e-mail to my client on the work progress or simply updating my friends on weekend meetings.
These simple tasks are no longer simple if you’re not able to reach a computer. With Digi unlimited data plan and a fully geared Nokia 5800 in hand, I no longer have to worry about not being able to stay connected with my clients or my friends.
Here’s the homescreen of my Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. I’m using HandyShell to customize my homescreen if you wondered how I did that. HandyShell allow me to customize/add more shortcut buttons on my homescreen. I have added shortcuts for applications that I often use for quick access. Just one touch on the homescreen, and I get what I wanted to get updated with. Just as handy as its name says it!
The mobile Google page allows me to get my Gmail and Google Map installed easily. Just go through some simple installation process, I’m now able to read my emails anywhere at anytime. Visit m.google.com on your mobile phone to get the applications installed ok!
Google Map on my Nokia 5800 works pretty well with the built-in GPS system. I’m able to search for a street name or even a business name to reach the location I might not been to! The Google Maps on my Nokia 5800 simply show me the routes to reach my destination.
Now I have no worries of getting lost in the Penang Island when I can look for my ways through Google Map or send an email to ask for help through the Gmail Application!
Of course I’m not done with getting the most out from my Nokia 5800. I have this habit of updating my status from time to time on my Twitter if I find them interesting.

So I downloaded and installed Stew from the Symbian-Guru site. Then quickly, I setup my Twitter account login information and tweeted right away! Stew allows me to stay updated with people I follow and update my followers on my where abouts. My friends are now able to get updated on my status in both Twitter and Facebook since I have them linked together.
Besides all these above, I’ve also installed Slick for Mobile Devices. Slick is an application that allows me to stay connected with my clients and friends on GoogleTalk and MSN. Of course it also support other communication protocols such as ICQ, Yahoo Messenger, AIM or Jabber.
Follow some simple installation process, then simply key in your login info at the settings and you’re ready to stay connected with more of your friends on MSN or GoogleTalk like I did.
One feature I love the most about Slick is the ability to snap a photo on the spot and send it to your friends on MSN Chat instantly. See? Now you can update your girlfriend of your current location so she no longer have to worry that you might be with someone else!
You can also choose to have your Nokia 5800 to play a sound when someone sends you a message on MSN or vibrations, or both.
Now, I’m able to connect to everyone around me just by having a fully geared Nokia 5800 in my palm. I can stay connected to my clients via Gmail wherever I go, I can update my friends on my current status with Stew and I can start discussion to plan my weekends with my friend’s on MSN using Slick.
See why I’m telling you my Nokia 5800 XpressMusic is powerful? What about yours? Share it with me here so we can all get the most out of it!
P/S: This is definitely not a paid review and I’m in no way affiliated with any of the mentioned applications above.
